Back in the game…

I spent this past weekend trying to rest and recover from my cold but I still attended acting class on Sat (which is mandatory) and on Sunday Heather and I went to the gym. What started out as a “light” workout turned into 45min of cardio, light stretching, four sets of medium-heavy squats and three sets of smith-machine hack squats. So much for “taking it easy”. Of course afterwards, I felt completely exhausted and a little sick. So in the afternoon I took a nap and in the evening watched Charlize Theron in “Monster“.

“Monster” for me, was like watching “American History X” - great performances but not necessarily the kind of movie I would like to watch again. I completely understand why Charlize Theron won an Academy Award for her performance. She totally transformed herself into this character which is so completely opposite from her beautiful, ingenue image. This is the kind of work that my acting studio has been preparing us for, even though the majority of us will never get the opportunity to work on such a role.

Once again, it’s Monday and I find myself trying to schedule two different rehearsals for class. I also visited my theatrical agency to drop off a package of headshots and resumes as well as pickup my other proofsheets from my commercial photo session. I then headed over to the photo lab to get the reproductions of my two theatrical color photos. While driving all around town, I realize that my car is STILL having problems even after it was supposedly “fixed”. My car still smokes randomly and I smell burning rubber from time to time. Not to mention that I have yet to receive my driver’s license that I re-ordered because I lost my wallet a few months ago…
