I just returned from my ABC showcase audition.
It was nice that I was scheduled as the first audition this morning. It means that the casting people are fresh and I’m in-and-out quick. This morning I read for the role of Dr Derek - a young handsome doctor who just slept with his intern the night before. This is actually a different script than I was originally given. The first script was more serious and dramatic. The role I read for this morning was fun and flirty. Overall I think I did good. It could have been better if I was more relaxed. But I feel that I showed some good moments, personality and confidence. I also think it helped that I wore a lab coat. Even the receptionist commented how I looked like a real doctor.
[Side comment: I really need to take some audition technique classes.]
On another note, I have my artistic evaluation at the studio next Sat. Basically I will go in and meet with my acting coaches who will give me their critique on the work I have done at the studio this last year, what I need to improve, etc, etc. I’m looking forward to it.
Dr. David,
Congrats on the annual ABC showcase audition.
I got called in for that (AND called back for it) either last year or the year before.
Have NO clue how they found me cuz I didn’t have a theatrical agent then and I did not submit myself?
I think it was from that big EEOC career day that SAG has every year? Haven’t been to one since then, but it is cool (and free). Although EVERY ethnic actor in L.A. is there (with some whiteys who sneak in).
It was fun, though, and YES are those ABC offices FANCY or what?
I finally posted a short blog about MOVING HEADSHOTS. I links to your LA Casting moving headshot and your second blog/review of them.
Thanks for the heads up and the info.
(P.S. Royal Star did not have dim sum for the entire month of September … don’t know why? We’ll have to re-schedule our lunch next month).
