4 Auditions in one week?

Like the rains that have hit LA la land, all of a sudden I find myself with 4 commercial auditions this week - two commercial print projects and two tv ads. I can only hope that theatrical auditions are next.

Introducing me as independent filmmaker.
For a while I’ve been thinking about making my own film. I really think that this is the only way to start a “real” career in Hollywood. Plus all the roles I have ever been up for have been pretty shallow. So…. I have come up with an idea for my first short film and I’m very excited to start shooting it! This is where it all begins. I can smell the snow at Sundance…

I’m starting to feel like my commercial agent has been taking notes from Jerry McGuire (”more personal attention”).
Yesterday after giving me my audition information he didn’t rush off the phone but actually asked how things are going. That actually caught me off guard a little. But then things returned back to normal today with calls from his assistants telling me about my next audition.

Put me in a commercial

Surprisingly (and sad that it is surprising) I just got two commercial auditions this week both today and tomorrow. Today I’m a young dad for an insurance company commercial. Tomorrow I’m a young professional for a mortgage company print ad.

Good thing I’m getting my hair cut this afternoon…

Vote or Die!

Ok I’ll admit it. I’m voting because P. Diddy and the Bad Boy family said to. This makes voting officially the “hip, cool” thing to do. Even a guest on the Steve Harvey morning show said that “young people” can take advantage of standing in the voting line by steppin’ to some cutie who is also waiting in line. So go vote and get your groove on.

The truth is I don’t like politics. Watching tv and seeing supporters on both side bash each other with intolerance leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. In the past I’ve stayed far away from politics and never really knew much about it (or wanted to). This year for some reason I became more interested and watched all the debates and even discussed some of the issues with friends. Honestly I don’t care much for either candidate and if it wasn’t for Heather’s strong opinionated interest in politics I might not have even voted. But I did.

So when it comes down to voting, I’m taking the “Kerry” stance:

Personally, I’m a democrat and I believe in Kerry and his ideas, but I’m not gonna force my beliefs on the public. So I’m gonna vote for Bush.

(just kidding.)
Well it’s not totally a joke, but I’m not a democrat, nor republican (I have this aversion to labels and stereotypes). Instead I might write in my vote for Arnold, the Governator.

Politics. It’s like Hollywood with all the smoke and mirrors, but at least in Hollywood the actors admit that they’re just “acting”.

More drama in the neighborhood

One of our neighbors informed us today that she saw someone jump over our fence to get cans out of the trash and steel a tarp. We also have some very suspicious activity happening in front of our house (our neighbor says they’re dealing drugs). I’m trying to resist the Charles Bronson thoughts going through my head to start setting traps on my property. Instead I’ve called the local watch commander of the police station in the area to start patroling more on our block. We’ll see if that really happens.
