William Hung VS Wing!

After dealing with lawyers, cease and desist letters, performing in class - then working non-stop straight through the night on a freelance HTML project then going straight to my day job, I need a good laugh. ..

Who do you think would win a karaoke death match:
William Hung or Wing?

On the opposite end of the spectrum is Jin tha MC a American born Chinese rapper signed by Ruff Ryders - the same label that reps DMX.

William Hung gets record deal

William Hung’s 15 minutes of fame is getting extended a little longer. He has now signed a record deal with Fuse Music Network and Koch Records.

I’m getting 80’s flashbacks of Revenge of the Nerds, Real Genius and Say Anything for some reason.

Passion, Innocence

I talked to my brother who saw The Passion today. He said he cried through most of it. Since my brother isn’t the crying type that means it must be one powerful film. I can’t wait to see it!

I also happen to stumble across the trailer for Ghost in the Shell: Innocence! The trailer looks amazing! If you have not seen the first movie, go buy it NOW! It’s one of the classic anime films that you must see. It probably served as inspiration for The Matrix.

Reality TV not “Real”!?!?

The Hollywood Repoter has an article on how some “reality” TV shows now contain “staged” scenes. This might be a shock to the rest of the world but is old news here in LA. I have watched plenty of my fellow actors on “reality” shows such as “Blind Date” who are just - acting.

Once Upon a Time in Mexico

I saw the trailer for “Once Upon A Time in Mexico” on TV the other day. The movie bascially looks like the sequel to Desperado. And it’s no surprise since Desperado was a remake of El Mariachi which was written and directed by Robert Rodriguez.

[pause]

Actually I just checked and El Mariachi, Desperado, and Once Upon a Time in Mexico were all written and directed by Robert Rodriguez. Desperado was a very stylistic actin movie similar in style to Hong Kong action movies. Once Upon a Time in Mexico looks even better.

Indie premieres online

CNN reports:

.The writer of Oscar-nominated movie “The Full Monty” will have his latest film premiered on the Internet, in a world first..

This is a great idea. I.m very curious on how well this works financially. Will the film.s producers and investors be able to make enough money from ticket sales and .Internet. sales? In Hollywood, the goal of marketing a movie is to drive people to the box office to purchase tickets. Hollywood is afraid that if they release movies on the Internet they will be easily pirated and freely distributed decreasing ticket sales. But for an independent movie, Internet distribution might actually increase sales and help the film gain a greater audience.

I think it is very interesting how Hollywood and technology are converging. Other sites worth checking out are IFilm and Instant Films. IFilm has been around since the dot-com days and features independent short films and other media clips. Instant Films is a recent project that features short films completely created in a 48hour period (a weekend) by up and coming directors in Hollywood.

Martial Arts and Dance

I’ve been playing with this idea in my head for three years now. I have this incredible concept for a stage show which combines the strength of martial arts with the beauty of dance to create a unique show that I know would be a Broadway hit.

The only problem is that I’m not a professional dancer, nor a martial arts master. I have experience in both, but I need an expert to help me out.

Maybe I can throw together a simple demonstration - if I can find someone who knows Escrima…

Harlemm Lee is “Fame”ous

A fellow co-worker just informed me: an Asian guy won on the NBC show “Fame”! Harlemm Lee came out on top as the best dancer and singer voted by America, beating out Shannen Bex a 23 year old blonde.

This is so incredbile and encouraging. Many congrats to Harlemm Lee who is helping to blaze a trail for Asian Americans in entertainment!
