I hate my picture in the XFlowsion commercial.

I just checked out the XFlowsion website and found this:

That’s me at 174lbs 17% bodyfat down from 185lbs 22% bodyfat. I hate that photo. I just look fat. Here’s a better photo of me at 160lbs 14% bodyfat 3 months and 14lbs lighter after this commercial was shot.

*Results not typical :)

A Month After XFlowsion…

It’s been more than a month since the XFlowsion program ended and the good news is that Heather and I have continued to get leaner. I am now at 163lbs and 14.5% bodyfat.

That’s close to 20lbs I’ve lost by doing yoga, budokan, eating lots of veggies, staying away from sugar, white carbs, cheese, and only having one cheat day a month. The only bad thing is that we tend to eat a lot of burritos from Poquito Mas (Vegetarian burrito with guacamole, salsa, no cheese and added steak - absolute favorite!). Granted, Poquito Mas uses all fresh ingredients, but the white tortilla is suppose to be on the “forbidden” list. Guess it doesn’t matter since we’re losing weight at a steady pace. I find it amazing that I’ve lost 20lbs and I’m still not ripped. I haven’t been this light in a very long time but I’m determined to get down to 10% bodyfat.

XFlowsion Day 30

Goal: Leaner (accomplished)

Final weigh-in is 171lbs. That’s 11lbs less than when I started. Going through this challenge and participating in the XFlowsion program with Eric Paskel has really been incredible! In the last 30 days of doing XFlowsion 4 days a week and following a sensible diet, I’ve become a yoga convert. I’ve never really done yoga before this program but the combination of yoga poses with isometric and plyometric moves along with martial arts and dance is killer. It’s cardio and stretching and toning combined in one accessible program. Heather and I are totally inspired by this program and are determined to stay on the path of health and fitness through different yoga and movement classes along with weightlifting and eating healthy. Plus, I still could lose another 10lbs to be completely ripped!

The XFlowsion DVDs should be out very soon and I encourage everyone to check them out!

XFlowsion Day 23

There are 7 days left in my personal 30-day challenge to get leaner. My strategy for this last week is to stay focused and push myself as hard as I can in these last few workouts in this challenge. I’m hoping to lose another 2lbs before the 30 days are up. To do that I’m going to be super strict on my diet and only eat complex carbs in the morning (along with a protein of course). The rest of the day I will eat lean protein sources and lots of veggies. I will also try to drink more than a gallon of water a day and will be very careful of my sodium intake.

This yoga class/program I’ve been in has really been incredible. I don’t think I’ve ever sweat this much in any workout in my entire life. Heather and I have both grown to be yoga converts and after this 30-day challenge we intend to continue eating clean and going to yoga classes. As for our diet, a lot of other programs we’ve tried allowed for one cheat meal a week where you could eat absolutely anything. We are going to change that to one cheat meal a month and make it a special night out. So instead of eating fast food and ice cream once a week we will go to a really nice restaurant once a month and enjoy ourselves. Since Valentines Day is right after my 30-day fitness challenge is up, it is a perfect time for us to enjoy an evening out and indulge in rich food, chocolate and wine.

Challenge: Leaner and Stronger in 30 days

Is it possible to transform your body in 30 days?

From all the articles I’ve read over the years in Mens Health and Muscle and Fitness, I know it’s possible. The real question is if it’s possible for me to transform my body in 30 days. That’s my challenge. I’ve been trying for years to achieve my fitness goals and have gone through personal trainers, circuit training, weight training, hip-hop aerobics, abs classes, low carb diets and thousands of dollars worth of sports nutrition supplements to get closer too, but never achieve my goals. The only two things that really seemed to help was the low carb diet - which took me from a chubby 185lbs 25%bodyfat 37in waist to a non-ripped 165lbs 15%bodyfat 31in waist, and my last personal trainer - a half Korean, half African American chiseled body builder with a heavy Korean accent and gentle demeanor. At the end of my training program with him I put on 10lbs of muscle and was benching 225lbs. Right now I’m 182lbs 20%bodyfat 33in waist. Ultimately my goal is to be 185lbs 10%bodyfat. But for the next 30 days I’m going to concentrate on losing 8lbs of bodyfat and mainting muscle mass. I know this is completely possible losing 2lbs a week by staying on a strict diet, increasing cardio and changing my weight lifiting plan to moderate weight and high reps. After years of reading fitness articles, I know getting lean and ripped is all about a strict diet. So for my diet I will be following the guidelines of the Abs Diet, but will increase my vegetable proportions, decrease my carb intake slightly and increase my protein intake so that I will be eating 2000 calories daily maintaining my current muscle mass by ingesting 182g of protein a day and supplementing with BCAA’s, L-Glutamine, and pre-alkalyne creatine (to increase strength but prevent water retention). To increase my cardio I will be joining a new yoga/martial arts class. I’ve studied martial arts for a few years when I was younger, but never have really done yoga. This fusion of yoga/martial arts promises to stretch and strengthen core muscles plus provide an intense cardio workout. I will be taking this class every other day/4 days a week. In-between those cardio classes I will be lifting weights on tuesday and thursday taking saturday off for rest and recovery. I know that if I can stick to this plan and schedule I can definitely transform my body.

Today was the first day of my personal fitness challenge, and also the first day of my new yoga/martial arts fusion class. I really enjoyed the energy of the class and how the instructor was able to ease us into different yoga positions. The workout was killer I don’t think I’ve ever sweat that much in any cardio class. I really liked how plyometric moves were incorporated into the yoga positions and kept my heart rate going. Sticking with this class will be key in helping me achieving my fitness goals.
